You Are What You Eat

Ponder this. We have all heard the expression, "you are what you eat." By that definition, it makes many of us fast, easy, and cheap, like the food we eat. This expression can go beyond the food and drink we consume. Think about how you are feeding your mind and your intellect. According to current statistics, the average American spends over 12 hours daily consuming media in its various formats.
Are we becoming media obese? If we are what we consume, our minds are bloated with information we permit to enter our senses. Most of which is not useful, not helpful, and probably not healthy for our souls.
Imagine for a moment if just a fraction of the time we spend on media were spent in prayer or in helping others; our lives would take on a whole new meaning and purpose. Surely we can give a small piece of time to improve ourselves, our families, and our communities.
