24 - Why Do We SufferSusan Kelly

Ponder this. Do you ever question why you and others may suffer? Do you ever wonder why a good God would allow pain and suffering to happen to His creatures? Some people even turn away from God during times of suffering because they become angry and no longer feel loved by God. But the fact is, during times of suffering, God is actually inviting you to draw closer to Him. He is asking you to join Him in His way, which is the way of the cross. Uniting our pain with the suffering of our Lord on the cross is how we are called to follow Him.

Pain and suffering are permitted by God in order to achieve a greater good for each one of us. We learn this through the Passion of Christ. The passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus opened for us the gates of heaven. The greatest suffering of the Passion of Christ is followed by the greatest joy, eternal life for all who choose this path.
