129 - To Love What You Cannot See

Ponder this. Can you love someone who is not physically present in your life? Of course we can, and most of us do it every day. Oftentimes, we are separated from those we love for various periods of time each day. Some are separated for months from their loved ones due to work, school, and military obligations. But just because they are not with us does not make us stop loving them. In fact, we often yearn for their return to be physically present with us.

Similarly, even though we are separated physically from God, we can still love God with our entire being. In the same way one grows to love another here on Earth, our love for God grows as we get to know Him, communicate with Him, and please Him by our obedience to Him. Just like our love relationships on Earth, our relationship with God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—requires our work and attention.

Start and nurture your relationship with God by reading Sacred Scripture, by following Church teachings, and by talking with Him every day. As you do these things, your life will be enriched with much grace from above.
