35 - The Loose Thread

Ponder this. Have you ever had a thread coming out of one of the buttons on your shirt? Then have you ever made the mistake of pulling on that thread? The more you pull, the more the button becomes detached from the shirt, until it finally falls off completely.

Our obedience to God's commandments and His will for us is much like a thread coming from a button. The more we obey God's commandments, the more secure we remain attached to God. Each time we are disobedient to God's will, we move away from Him and run the risk of becoming completely detached from Him through our disobedience.

God loves us and wants what is best for us. He has given us His Word to follow completely, not just conveniently. If you do not know how to remain attached firmly to God, He has given us a complete owner's manual with instructions. It's called Sacred Scripture. When read in light of the teachings of the Church, and if followed completely, you will be assured of always remaining firmly attached to God.
