Ponder this. Do you ever pray to God for something you really want or need? Do you ever feel like your prayers were never heard or answered? Maybe you are praying for your favorite team to win a championship game, only to come up short and settle for runner-up. Perhaps you prayed for a promotion, yet you were passed over. And there's always the lottery ticket purchase. You know, praying for a winning million-dollar ticket.

In these circumstances, you might feel like your prayers were not heard or answered. Don't be discouraged. Your prayers were heard and answered, just that the answer was no. You see, the Lord answers prayers in the same way a good father answers requests from his children.

Even Jesus was turned down in the prayer to His Father, requesting to let the pain and suffering from the cross pass from Him. However, the Lord added to this request: not my will, but thy will be done. With every prayer of petition, consider ending it in this manner: not my will, but thy will be done. 

The Lord hears and answers all prayers. It's just that sometimes He says no
