168 - Simplify Your Life

Ponder this. If you die today, what would happen to all of your stuff? Speaking from experience, I can tell you that your belongings will either be sold, given away, or thrown away. Things you might treasure and perhaps have great sentimental value to you will be gone.

So let today be the day to take stock of all of your belongings and begin to simplify and minimalize your life. Maybe start with your junk drawer—we all have one. Then tackle your garage, your closets, and your storage units. Recycle your dust-collecting paraphernalia and give others the pleasure of reusing what you no longer need.

Get rid of the thought that one day you might need the items you are holding onto. Someone else may be in need of them. Today, if you find it difficult to part with your things, then you are probably too attached to them.

Eliminate the clutter in your life and make room for the Lord. He will fill you with joy as you remove the worldly distractions. Learn to attach yourself to He who is. The Lord will provide you with everything you need.
