Ponder this. Since the fall of man, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God's plan of salvation kicked into high gear. You see, heaven is pure. And in order to enter through the pearly gates, we must also be pure, without sin. God, in His infinite wisdom, designed a way for us sinners to get there.

You see, God became man—Jesus—and paid for our sins by suffering and dying on the cross. His suffering and death opened the gates of heaven for all who follow Him.

Look at it this way: if there is no hell, we would not have needed a Savior. God and His only begotten Son would not have gone through all that trouble just for us. God could have designed a different plan for us to get to heaven, but He didn’t. He could have snapped His divine fingers to make amends for our sins, but He didn’t.

Now, it’s up to each one of us to follow Jesus and His teachings, that we have received in Sacred Scripture and by following the teachings of His Church. For those who choose not to believe in Him and decide to do their own thing—well, they may very well have hell to pay.
