104 - Halos Don_t Come In XL

Ponder this. We live in a me-centered culture. Let’s face it, many of us are proud of our accomplishments, our endeavors, and our accolades. So proud, in fact, that we want to share all of our opinions and experiences with others. Because of this, we may find ourselves starting many of our sentences with the word I.

The question is: how much me is too much?

Sacred Scripture tells us that to get to heaven, we must be meek and humble of heart, and we must be like little children. Being humble of heart requires us to be more focused on others than on ourselves. Rather than touting our own accomplishments and experiences, maybe we should consider becoming more attentive to others and their needs. Maybe we should practice using the word I a little less frequently.

We must always work on becoming humble. Humility is the key that opens the door to holiness. Becoming humble means putting aside our big heads. After all, halos don’t come in extra large.
