202 - God and Hate Cannot Co-Exist

Ponder this. I was having lunch with a friend who was also interested in learning more about the Catholic faith in order to possibly convert. This friend also shared with me that she hated the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

After further discussion, I mentioned to her that you cannot hate another person and be a Christian of any denomination. Hate is incompatible with loving Christ. Hate is not Christian, no matter who our neighbor is.

Sacred Scripture clearly states that as long as we love one another, God remains in us. The inverse is also true. God cannot be in us if we do not love others, and that means everyone.

God gave us two great commandments: to love Him and to love our neighbor. All other commandments flow from these two. Loving our neighbor means loving those who especially are difficult to love.

Let's start today by loving those around us who are particularly difficult to love.
