Ponder this. Many of us have invariably run into someone who has asked the question: Have you been saved? When presented with this question, you have to ask yourself, what do I need to be saved from? This question might be more effective if rephrased: Are you going to heaven or to hell? Of course, many might respond by saying they do not believe in hell. Hopefully, they will not have to get there in order to believe.
Let's look at this question of salvation. Simply put, Jesus Christ, through the shedding of His blood, has provided a path for us to get to heaven. He has given us a clear road map to heaven in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. If we follow Him and the path He has given, we may enjoy an eternity in heaven. If we choose not to follow Him and all that He asks of us, our path may take us to hell.
So the complete question is: Are you saved from the fires of hell? And ponder this, if hell doesn't exist, as many want to believe, then we never needed a Savior in the first place. There is a hell, and praise God, He sent us a Savior from it.
