153 - Put Things In Order

Ponder this. Are you a person who does not see the point in making your bed every morning, since you will be messing it up at the end of the day? Do you leave your clothes lying on the floor because you figure you can pick them up later when you need them? Does the inside of your car look like a garbage dump, with empty cups, fast food bags, and dirty clothes mixed in?

Why does all this matter anyway? If it doesn't bother you, then it shouldn't matter to anyone else. Well, perhaps this is one way to look at it, but truth be told, the way one takes care of his surroundings often reflects how he handles his internal affairs.

We are called to imitate God, and our God is a God of order. Look at how He ordered the universe. There is nothing haphazard, messy, or chaotic in His creation. Imitating God means becoming a person of order. Start by cleaning, organizing, and maintaining your external affairs, as God has done with His.

Live a life of order, pleasing to God.
