Ponder this. Are you a person who is uncomfortable when your phone is not near? Have you ever left your house in the morning and forgot to grab your phone? Do you turn back to retrieve it, or do you try to tackle your day without what has become an extra appendage?
Chances are most people are lost without their phones, and we rarely use them to talk. Communicating via text is so much easier, quicker, and you don't have to make pleasantries. Have we lost anything in our move from voice to digital discussions? I venture to guess many have lost their sense of relationship building. We'd rather build our profiles on social media.
It might be time and way past due to put away our phones and learn to build face-to-face relationships. Where do you start this relationship-building endeavor? Perhaps intentionally. Walk over to someone and ask how their day is going, how their children are doing, or how they will be spending the weekend.
Let's start intentionally making friends the old-fashioned way, face-to-face dialogue.
